The Appalachian Championship Enduro Series hosted the second round of the series in Wellston, Ohio, on April 9. SRT/KTM-backed competitor Cory Buttrick of Logan, Ohio, captured the overall at the Little Raccoon Classic Enduro hosted by the Appalachian Dirt Riders. He said he wanted to get back to having fun at the races.

“All the sections were a blast,” Buttrick said. “It made it fun riding slow, technical trail again.”

Buttrick says the end of the first section was tough because it was so tight.

“It took a lot of strength to wiggle between the trees,” he commented.

Buttrick beat class competitor Zach Klamfoth by nearly 6.5 minutes. Nick Fahringer finished only 3 seconds behind Klamfoth. Robbie Jenks and Brett Zofchak rounded out the top five spots.

Buttrick says his plan for the year is to focus on the AMA National Enduro Series and the Full Gas Sprint Enduro Series.

“I will try to hit as many ACES events as I can when they don’t conflict,” Buttrick said. “Plus, I’ll hit the GNCCs [AMA Grand National Cross Country Series] that are close to me.”

Buttrick said he’d like to thank SRT/KTM, KRW Cycles, Kenda, Mobius, FMF, Motul, JDP, his wife, his parents and his in-laws.

Overall A

Josh Kellough of Chillicothe, Ohio, captured the Overall A honors. Kellough competed in the 250A class. He had an elapsed time of 105 minutes, 57 seconds and beat Overall A contender Nick Obryant of the Open A class who had a time of 109 minutes, 10 seconds.

Overall B

Overall B was snatched by Craig Hormel of Oakdale, Pa., who rode in the 30-plus B class. Jacob McManis of the Open B class finished just 2 seconds behind Hormel in contention for the Overall B spot.
