The ACES Rekluse-Wiseco Enduro Championship kicked off the 2020 Enduro season with a scorcher on Sunday, May 24, in Londonderry, OH. The Art Mitchell Memorial Enduro was hosted by the Chillicothe Enduro Riders Association.

Six days of rain leading up to the timekeeper enduro made for a real tough-guy, old-school enduro. The skies cleared for the race day and temperatures skyrocketed into the 90s. The first section in-check caught a bunch of riders riding hot as they hit a 4+ mile off-camber section with big hills, goat-trails and roots. Even the AA guys dropped a few minutes in there.

After a small road transfer, the riders hit a 10+ mile section of brutally tight, gnarly, off-camber and diabolical trails. Steep ups-and-downs, slick creek bottoms, and a one-line sapling jungle wore riders thin. The club checked the section in the middle and at the end. After the subsequent gas stop, many riders called it a day and headed back to the trucks with tongues hanging out. The strong-willed kept on and navigated a clear-cut section, some big woods, some old enduro trails, a classic “sawmill hill” section and a A-class section that kept the best in survival mode. Only around 60 riders finished out of the 250+ that started the day.

Zach Klamfoth took the Overall win with 48 points dropped on the Husqvarna FX350, followed closely by Dan Mead on his Honda CRF250 and local enduro legend Robbie Jenks on his KTM 500 XCW.

Overall A went to Chris Sturman, and Overall B was grabbed by extreme enduro rider Clay Krebs.

The next enduro in the ACES Rekluse-Wiseco Enduro Championship is the Little Burr Enduro on June 14. The race will start in Wilkesville, Ohio, and will be a restart format enduro. Racer signup will be online through LiveLaps starting Friday, May 29, at 8 p.m.
